When it comes to meaningful relationships, what is our money worth? My rent went through today, as did the water bill. During this time one of my roommates was not paying his bills, and my roommates and I had to compensate. That roommate was unemployed, and subsisted almost entirely on Ramen noodles and the food I brought home from Barberitos. He also played drums in my band, and I was willing to look the other way at the lack of rent. This changed with the threat of eviction. Colin had escaped the cycle of consumption, but mere subsistence is not always enough.
